Education / School Enrollment

School enrollments are declining throughout the Pittsburgh region. The graph below shows enrollments for the City of Pittsburgh vs. the counties that make up the region. The line is an index in which the base year (2000) equals 100 in order to show the change in enrollments over time. The benchmark average in this case refers to the average of all of the counties. Click on any county to see how it compares to the City.

The increase in the public school enrollments in Beaver County is largely due to the PA Cyber Charter School, whose enrollment in the 2008-2009 school year totalled 7,874.

Private and nonpublic enrollments are not available for the City of Pittsburgh.
